How Amazon and Others Benefit From AI Use in Space Science

By: March 20, 2025

Space science, which includes science-based space exploration and related fields, such as the study of phenomena and physical bodies (planets, stars, galaxies, and so on) in space, is essential to drive the space industry. While there are forecasts that space tourism, space mining, space manufacturing, and so on will become major markets throughout this century, they all depend on excellent understanding of space, its advantages and opportunities, as well as its risks and threats.

Luckily, AI will help with better understanding space, which will then allow for more efficient and advanced space exploration and the overall growth of the space industry.

AI can be used for many different tasks when it comes to space science. The first one is automated data processing. When a satellite or telescope scans areas of interest, gigantic amounts of data are gathered. Sorting and analyzing this data with the help of AI is much more efficient than doing this without the help of AI, allowing scientists and researchers to utilize larger data sets and to find outliers and important data more efficiently.

Scientists, such as physicists or astronomists, can also utilize AI to simulate space-related events. When they want to find out what happens when two galaxies merge, for example, the data-heavy simulations can be made quicker and more efficient with the help of AI.

AI is also used to keep an eye on space-related risks: Solar flares, which can impact communication and electricity networks on earth, can be more precisely predicted thanks to the help of AI, and asteroid orbits and movements can be more precisely tracked thanks to AI as well.

Beyond these points, many organizations and companies work on other space tasks where they use AI or plan to use it, such as autonomous space vehicles, AI-utilizing robots, e.g. for mars missions.

Benefit from Increased AI In the Construction Industry

Investors can benefit from the growth of AI in space science in different ways. Investing in the biggest space players, such as NASA or SpaceX, is, unfortunately, not possible. There are smaller space companies that investors can invest in, or they may want to choose a space ETF, such as Procure Space ETF (NYSE: UFO).

Investors can also invest in the companies that power the Artificial Intelligence in space science trend at the back end: NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA) is a great example of that, as its data center chips power many of the algorithms that are used in space science.

Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) is another tech choice that powers the Artificial Intelligence in space science trend from the back end. Its Amazon Web Service unit offers cloud computing services, including AI services, to many different businesses, which includes space companies such as SpaceX, Blue Origin (also owned by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos), and so on.

Investors can also choose among some of our Artificial Intelligence picks to benefit from increased Artificial Intelligence usage in space science and the broader scientific world.
