Don’t Ignore an Industry with a Nearly 14% CAGR for the Next 7 Years and Beyond

By: June 8, 2023

Today, the global cybersecurity market is worth about $154 billion in 2022. By 2030, that number will be at least $425 billion. That’s a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of nearly 14% for the next seven years, and those are conservative numbers.

One of the challenges in nailing down how big this opportunity is, is the fact that technology is shifting so quickly, and it’s hard to really get a handle on how big this market will actually be.

Remember, no one was breathlessly talking about AI until earlier this year. Now, every sector is finding ways to incorporate the technology in their businesses.

We actually added one big winner of this recent runup last November when most investing talking heads were still talking about how chip companies were going to languish in 2023.

Our NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA) pick is now up nearly 140% in the last six months!

But this winner is on the chip side, not the cybersecurity side, per se.

Yet this is exactly how we play MegaTrends. NVDA is a “pick and shovel” play. Both cybersecurity firms and hackers will be buying these chips and systems that embed NVDA chips.

As the chart illustrates below, the reality is that many companies – and the people that work for them – still aren’t exactly aware of threats that are out there every day.

It’s like muggers hunting for tourists in big cities. All they have to do is wait for those people that walk around staring up at the skyscrapers and they know they have an unwitting victim, an easy mark. There are plenty of these people working for big companies that are logged into vulnerable servers.

This threat is further accelerated when the companies themselves are either too cheap, too poor, or too short-sighted to value their digital access points.

Cybercriminals are like viruses; they adapt quickly. Unlike viruses, which tend to want to keep their host alive so they can spread and thrive and become less virulent, hackers are always looking for the best way to accomplish their goal – a one bullet, one kill approach. They don’t get less dangerous with age. Just the opposite in fact.

What’s more, this was all going on before AI turbocharged the whole game. Now there’s even more opportunity in cybersecurity – from pick and shovel plays to direct cybersecurity companies – now and in coming years.

We’re already finding the best way to profit.
